In an emergency, medics are trained to look for medic ID's, bracelets and other medical jewelry. It is up to you to decide if you need a medical ID and what type you should use.

 

 There are number of ways you can make your special needs known to emergency personnel.

 These include the traditional medic ID bracelet or other form of medical jewelry, the "Vial of Life" or a wallet card with your information on it.

 Each of these methods have advantages and disadvantages that make them suitable for some situations but not others.

MedicTag is a USB flash drive that can record all your emergency information and attaches to your key ring. It is easy to use and convenient to carry and its high visibility means that it is likely to be found by an EMT in an emergency.

 

 If you live alone there are also home medical monitors that can summon help or notify someone that you have an emergency and need assistance. And in those cases MedicTag can also provide emergency personnel with your vital information after they have been summoned to your home

 

 What precautions you take and what method or combination of methods you chose to use will depend on your individual needs, but if you are at risk - you should take every possible step to protect yourself.
